How Thai tax applies to what you buy and sell.
This explains how HOLO handles tax on the platform. It isn't tax advice. For advice about your own tax position, speak to a qualified accountant.
VAT for buyers
Prices shown include VAT. The price on a pack or a listing is what you pay — nothing is added at checkout.
The current VAT rate in Thailand is 7%.
VAT for sellers
The 8% Marketplace fee is VAT-inclusive — VAT is contained within the 8% rather than added on top. Your payout is sale price minus 8%, with nothing further deducted for VAT on the fee.
Withholding tax
Thai law requires withholding tax to be deducted from service fees. The rate on service fees is generally 3%.
HOLO files this on your behalf. You don't need to calculate it, deduct it, or file it yourself. It's handled inside the fee and reflected in your tax invoice.
Your tax invoice
Every Marketplace sale can produce a tax invoice showing the sale, the fee, the VAT and the withholding tax. Download these for your records or your accountant.
See Downloading your tax invoices.
Your own tax position
HOLO handles tax on the fees we charge. Whether your selling activity creates personal income tax obligations depends on your circumstances — how much you sell, and whether it constitutes a trade. If you're selling at any scale, talk to an accountant.
